We are happy to announce a new customer for our Iridium Certus 100 M2M / IoT Modem – The Intelligent Hybrid Modem!
Geisenheim University is one of the most renowned agricultural R&D institutions in Germany.
Funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, based on a Bundestag resolution, they are operating an Agriculture Digitalisation Experimentation Field, called DIWAKOPTER, with a special focus on Agricultural Drones.
Under this Agriculture Digitalisation Experimentation Fields Programme, there are 14 Experimentation Fields; but DIWAKOPTER is the only one, which includes Satellite Communication Services.
Geisenheim University and Telespazio VEGA Deutschland are working together on engineering test campaigns utilising Satellite Communication for Smart Farming applications. For these experiments, the university procured from Telespazio VEGA a VSAT System, for fast Internet access in the field via Satellite, and IHM for Beyond Visible Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone communication solution via Iridium Satellites. We are proud of our cooperation with the Geisenheim University and happy to promote Smart Farming to its next level!
